Getting started with Astrophotography

For centuries we have admired and studied the night sky and that interest has grown larger over the years. In the age of digital photography, we are now finding it more achievable to capture beautiful night photos of the stars and moon. If you are interested in jumping into astrophotography here’s what you need to get started:

  • Camera with Bulb Mode
  • Wide Angle Lens
  • Tripod
  • Shutter Remote or Timer

  • Chose an area location that is removed from any city lights and avoid any extra light sources.
  • Darkest of the night is just before dawn about 4am.
  • Winter months tend to have a lot clearer skies.
  • Make sure you have disabled any auto flash.
